The Phraya Nakhon Cave is located in the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park. From the Bang PO Beach it is possible to take a boat to the Laem Sala Beach. The boat ride will take 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the waves. In case you want to save the money, it is also possible to walk from the Bang PO Beach directly to the Cave. It is around 2 km.
We took the boat option, which was already a lot of fun because the waves were high and the boatswain took a detour for us. From the Leam Sala Beach we started the hike up to the cave. It is only 500 meters, but all up hill. The terrain is mostly stony and steep. The hike took us 45 minutes. It is totally doable, even without much fitness.
The huge cave was really amazing. It makes you feel small, as pictures can not really show the size of the cave. In the middle of the cave trees are reaching nearly the ceiling. At the top of the hole, there is a stone bridge also named “death bridge” because wild animals have fallen to their deaths from it.
For getting the best pictures it is recommenced to be in the cave around midday. That is when the sun is shinning directly through the hole and you get a nice shine on the temple. For us it was one of the best trips in Thailand.
