For getting a unique perspective of Bangkok we choose to get on a half day canal cruise. The cruise went along the Chao Phraya River to Nonthaburi. During the cruise we visited a traditional market, were your guide bought amazing Thailand traditional fruits for us. It was possible to taste the sun in it, totally yummy.
The long tail boat was for 10 people, it was a smaller boat that could enter the scenic khlongs and rural villages. The boat had a roof, which came in handy because we had 2 hours rain during the tour. The tour itself gave an interesting perspective on the city of Bangkok, as it shows the small local houses away from the skyscrapers of the city.
On the edge of the canal we saw a few giant lizards. They were between two and three meters long. Including also all the fishes in the water, try not to fall out of the boat and do not put the hand in the water. The water is mostly gray for that reason hard to say what all lives in there. The cruise was totally worth it and is a nice alternative to the busy city.
After we left the boat we visited the small temple of Wat Traimit. This is a temple with a golden Buddha inside. In order to go inside the temple you need to leave your shoes outside. In case you do not want to go bare foot, get some extra socks. It is a small nice temple and can be covered in 30 minutes.
