Nepal: A day in Kathmandu

The first day in Nepal started in the capital of Kathmandu. Where we stayed for two days. After a late breakfast the day was started with wondering around the smalls streets of Kathmandu in order to get to the Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Square is located in front of the old royal palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom. In order to inhale the beauty of the place, take some time to walk around and look at the different palaces and temples.

Afterwards we drove to the Patan Durbar Square, which is the second of three Durban Squares in the valley of Kathmandu. The last Square (Bhaktapur Durbar Square) we left for the end of the journey in Nepal. The Square hold a lot of history and the interesting architecture made it amazing to walk around and discover the area.

After a great start in Kathmandu, the first day ended with traditional Nepali Food. This was a first encounter of Dal-bhat-tarkari, which we learned in the following days are a dish severed nearly every night. For that reason the saying “Dal Power” was created, and we found even a t-Shirt with that label for our guide. 🙂
