The Pragser Wildsee or Lake Prags or Lake Braies is a lake in the Prags Dolomites in Italy. When it comes to pictures of the Dolomites this is usually on that come up. Even that it is the most popular location in the region besides the Tre Cime we wanted to see it for ourselves.
What can I say the pictures do not lie, this place is stunning beautiful. The lake has some real green/blue color to it and with the reflecting mountains in it, it looks right out of an outdoor magazine. There is not much more to ask for when it comes to natural beauty. Even that we had a rainy day with a lot of clouds and light rain.
Where to park: parking slot at the Hotel Lago Di Braises. Parking fees can be paid at the parking slot.
Tip: the hike around the lake is easy and nearly flat. Can be done in 1-2 hours and is recommendable for everyone.
From the lake it is also possible to do more alpine hikes to have a few on the lake from above.
Cost: The hike around the lake is free, as well as the other hikes that can be started from the lake. But parking space fees needs to be paid.
Personal opinion: the lake and the area around the lake is really beautiful and a dream location for photographers, in order to capture the beauty of this area.
Walking around the lake is a great walk for the first or last day in the area, due to the fact that it only take 1-2 hours to walk around. It should not be missed.
