Italy: A day in the Puster Valley

The accomodation

In case you have only one full day in the Puster Valley in Italy, here some tips how to fill our day. One of the most important things in the Italian Alps is to have apartment that is facing the mountains – look here for inspirations. Just waking up with a view to the mountains in a cozy Italy home. Enjoying the great breakfast with fresh bread and a cheese/meat platter.

The amazing lakes

One must see in the area of the Puster Valley is the Pragser Wildsee (Lake Braies). The lake is filled with crystal clear blue water. It is surrounded by the stunning Italian Mountains. The lake provides a couple of hiking options from easy to alpine. The most popular hike is the surrounding of the lake. It takes around 1-2 hours. In case you want to enjoy the time on the water, it is possible to rent a boot near the Hotel Lago Di Braies.

Even that the Pragser Wildsee (Lake Braies) is the most popular lake in the Puster Valley region, the following Lakes should not be missed. Even if the  Lake Toblach is relatively small. It is in a stunning surrounding and it provides several restaurants to enjoy a lunch at the shore. Near the street there is a parking slot for the Lake. But it is also possible to drive to the shore and park directly in front of the restaurants.

The mountains

On the way to the Dürrensee (Lake Dürren) do not miss parking at the  Punto Panoramico Tre Cime di Lavaredo. At the parking slot it is possible to have an amazing view at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. The landmark of the Dolomites. No matter if you actually decide to hike to the Tre Cime or just enjoying the view at this mountain side. It is with no question an epic panorama. In the evening enjoy some ice crème at the shore of the Lake Misurina.

The food

To round up the day, enjoy some typical Italian food in one of the many traditional Tirol Restaurants. Even that the most popular dishes are pasta and pizza. Do not miss the cheese starter platter with sweet mustard. Together with a glass red or white wine to reflect on the perfect nature sides.
