The second day in India started with a drive from Delhi to Agra which took around 4 hours. In order to get the most out of the day, I started around 7 am. The only thing that I was able to visited in Agra was the Taj Mahal.
In order to plan a tight schedule like I did, keep in mind that the attractions in India close around 5 pm and driving from one city (location) to another will consume a lot of time.
When coming to the Taj Mahal you will see endless lines of people. Here is a but, as a non Indian citizen you have to pay a higher entry price (~ 10 Euro) for getting into the Taj Mahal area. This ticket includes a “primary line” entry meaning it will only take 10 minutes to get into the area. Same holds true for the tomb entry.
Seeing the Taj Mahal with your own eyes is stunning, you have to keep in mind that the building is purely of ivory-white marble. In order to protect it, you have to take of your shoes or put a shoe overcoat on.
Is it worth to go to the Taj Mahal. I would say yes, it is worth to see this monument once in your life. But be completely prepared for a lot of people. It is completely crowded and it is impossible to get any shot of the Taj Mahal where this can be covered up. All pictures you may see without any people on it are photo shopped.
For me the outside of the Taj Mahal was more impressive than actually going inside the tomb. Inside it is not allowed to take any picture.
