There are certain moment in our life that we will never forget again. For me it was the view into the valley of Pórsmörk. No picture will be able to capture this beautiful nature. Surrounded by mountains, glaciers and green scenery, just sitting there for 30 minutes will stay forever in my memories.
Name: Þórsmörk or Thórsmörk
Good to know: is the beginning/end of the Laugavegur hiking trail. The area itself includes several day hike possibilities. The area offers several huts and camping spots.
Where to park: park in front of the Volcano Huts Þórsmörk, Hvolsvöllur, Iceland.
Tip: there are several river crossings included in order to get to the Þórsmörk region. Depending on the water level it is only possible to cross with a super jeep, in order to get to the start of the hiking trails.
There is a bus available from the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Check over https://www.re.is/.
Cost: None, the national park is for free. Only overnight stay needs to be paid, it can be done with credit card. Several camp side can be found in the area.
Personal opinion: very beautiful area. Totally worth to spend 2 days there. In case you have the chance climb up the hill behind the Volcano hut, the view down to the valley and on the glacier is breathtaking.
