Waypoints: Landmannalaugar →Hrafntinnusker→Álftavatn→Emstrur→Þórsmörk (vise-versa)
Direction: the trail can be walked in both directions, more popular is Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk.
Extension: the trail can be extended from Þórsmörk→Skogar
Good to know: hike includes river crossing, walking in deep water and ice climbing. Weather is totally unpredictable, expect sun, rain, wind and even snow. With that in mind be prepared for all kind of cloth’s to bring with you.

Where to start: with the hiking bus pass you can go to Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk or Skogar. As well as can be picked up of one of these places.
Where is the bus station: Reykjavik Excursions, Vatnsmýrarvegur, Reykjavík, Iceland
Cost: hiking the trail itself is free. Paying needs to be done for camping or staying in the mountain huts. Staying in the huts needs to be pre-book. Camping can just be paid by arrival with credit card.
Tips: take some time to do day hikes in Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk, before you start/end the Laugavegur hike. In case you want to do the extended hike to Skogar, take a rest day in Þórsmörk.
Camping Tips: gas for the camping cooker can be bought at a small shop in the area of the Reykjavik Excursions Bus station. At the campsite in Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk you are able to by food. Water is free and can be taken out of rivers or at the camp site. Garbage needs to be carried during the whole hike.
Personally opinion: The hike will leave you just stunned. The path will take you through so many landscapes and wide areas that can only impress. One of the best hikes of my life.
